COVID-19 Return to Play Protocols Updated.

The Covid-19 Return to Play (RTP) Protocol has been updated which takes into account the Ontario Government Stage III re-opening framework.  All members are kindly ask to review the updated document.

Screening Policy Adopted

As part of the Responsible Coaching Movement (RCM), Lake Superior Biathlon wishes to announce the adoption of its personnel and volunteer screening policy which became effective 24 Jun 20.

The screening policy is published under Community > Policies and Forms section of the website.

COVID-19 Return to Play (RTP) Protocols

As Ontario Government begins to reduce restrictions on its State of Emergency will allow LSB to resume outdoor training at the TBFG Range. All members are ask to download and review the LSB’s Return to Play Protocols.

2019 Bruno’s Blink Festival is now LIVE!!!

Event 1: Biathlon Orienteering Challenge

This will be an orienteering style course in the vicinity of the Kamview Nordic lower stadium. The race begins on the range where participant must clear their target system before heading out on the predetermine course. Waypoints will be laid out and general maps will be of their general whereabouts. Racers will be given a pre-determine sequence of waypoints where they must complete in the best time possible. Race points will be awarded based on their finish times and go towards the count for the Grand Champion title. Participants under the age of 9 must be accompanied by parent and/or supervising adult while on course.

Event 2: Biathlon Speed Shooting Competition

This event is a play on the Biathlon Canada National Team Shooting test, where participants after a zeroing period, will shoot a two 5 round bout at precision target, and then with 5 rounds on the target system under an allotted period of time. The event score will be: precision target score number of hits – seconds over the allotted time.

Event 3: Run and Shoot Sprint Race

This will be a cross-country running biathlon sprint race with three laps and 2 bouts of shooting with time penalty awarded for shot missed. Course length will be age appropriate. Race points will be awarded based on their finish times and go towards the count for the Grand Champion title.

Categories:

– Juveniles (gender will not be separated), 7-11. 
Parent to accompany participants who are under 9, may assist participant while on course.

– Junior Boys/Girls: 12-14

– Open Men/Women: 15+

– Team of two: in the Juvenile, Junior (can be mixed), Open (can be mixed).
Parent to accompany team participants who are under 9, may assist participant while on course.

Advisory:

All participants will be provided with the use of Daisy 853C air rifles with 0.177″ pellets for all activities mentioned above. All participants must attend the safety briefings prior to the events.

Awards:

Medals for Top 3 will be awarded to each of the categories above. Those who register as team are not eligible for the individual categories. The awards will be remitted during the closing BBQ at chalet. 

A grand champion for top Individual and Top Team will be recognized with the highest aggregate score of all three events. Winners to be awarded a small plaque to take home.

Refunds:

Refunds will be made available in the event that the 2019 Bruno’s Blink Festival is cancelled. Refunds minus a $10 administration fee will be granted for withdrawal from the events by 14 September 19. Refunds after this date will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis due to medical reason only.

2019 Bruno’s Blink Festival Announced

Lake Superior Biathlon is please to announce the 2019 Bruno’s Blink Festival will occur on 28 Sep 2019 at Kamview Nordic Centre. More information to follow
