LSB Summer Training Program Announced

Sr. Boys/Girls and IBU Categories

This sessions forms the generalization period of your 2015-2016 training plan. No program fees are associated to this session as it was already collected.

Training scheduled (12 May – 31 Aug) for the following times:

  • Tuesdays: 6:00pm – 7:30pm
  • Fridays: 6:00pm – 7:30pm
  • Sundays: 10:30am – 12:00pm

Physical Endurance testing will begin on 13 May 2015 with the Conconi Run, then followed by the remainder of the physical testing on 20 May 2015. This testing is mandatory, NO EXCEPTIONS. A re-scheduling fee of $50.00 will be assessed if you do not attend either of testing sessions nor will you be permitted to continue in range training until it is completed. This testing will then be repeated at the beginning of our Fall session.

Available Training/Competition Events:

  • Eastern Testival, CFB ValCartier, 29 Jun – 05 Jul. Dates to be confirmed (Mandatory for OAAP Athletes)
  • LSSD Summer Ski Camp – 8-12 Jul 15. Highly recommended to attend if not participating in the Eastern Testival.
  • North American Summer Championship – CFB ValCartier, 6-9 Aug 2015,
  • BiON Summer Camp, Jericho VT, 10-16 Aug 2015. (Mandatory for OAAP Athletes)
  • Biathlon Canada Buff’s Postal Competition

What you need:

  • Roller Skis, boots, poles, and safety gear (helmet, pads, reflective vest)
  • Owning or in the process of owning 0.22 Rifles and accessories.
  • 0.22 LR Standard velocity, 40 grain ammunition
  • Ear plugs (inserts)
  • Safety glasses
  • Heart Rate Monitor
  • PAL or Minor’s PAL (minimum firearm safety course certificate). The firearm safety course is mandated by Biathlon Canada for anyone who is 12 years of age or older, and must be undertaken within the first year of participating in a 0.22 program.
  • US Importation Permit and Passport if planning International travel for Biathlon event
  • Personal Training Journal or iLog
  • Biathlon Canada/Ontario Membership

Transition to Sr Boys/Girls Category, 3-days/week, begins 12 May 2015

This sessions forms the generalization period of the Sr. Boys/Girls 2015-2016 training plan. This program is intended for those entering the competitive Sr. Boys/Girls category (Ages: 15-16). The primary focus the summer program will be guided towards precision shooting in both the prone and standing positions.

Training scheduled (12 May – 31 Aug) for the following times:

  • Tuesdays: 6:00pm – 7:30pm
  • Fridays: 6:00pm – 7:30pm
  • Sundays: 10:30am – 12:00pm

This one day per week sessions forms part of the generalization period of the Sr. Boys/Girls 2015-2016 training plan. This program is intended for those entering the competitive Sr. Boys/Girls category (Ages: 15-16) not able to commit to the full 3-day training sessions. The primary focus the summer program will be guided towards precision shooting in both the prone and standing positions

Training scheduled (12 May – 31 Aug) for the following times:

  • Sundays: 10:30am – 12:00pm

Physical Endurance testing will begin on 13 May 2015 with the Conconi Run, then followed by the remainder of the physical testing on 20 May 2015. Biathlon Bears Racers and Jr Boys/Girls Category, or New member, 1-day/week, begins 17 May 2015

This one day per week sessions forms part of the generalization period of the Biathlon Bears Racers and Jr. Boys/Girls 2015-2016 seasonal training plan. This program is intended for:

  • The competitive Jr. Boys/Girls category (Ages: 13-14),
  • Biathlon Bears Racers who are 12 yrs old or older who were registered in the winter session, and
  • New members who are 13 yrs of age or older.

The primary focus the summer program will be guided towards marksmanship principles required for biathlon precision shooting in the prone position. Standing position may be introduced depending on the biathlete’s skill level

Training scheduled (12 May – 31 Aug) for the following times:

  • Sundays: 10:30am – 12:00pm

Physical Endurance testing is recommended and will begin on 13 May 2015 with the Conconi Run, then followed by the remainder of the physical testing on 20 May 2015. This testing will then be repeated at the beginning of our Fall session.

Available Training/Competition Events:

LSSD Summer Ski Camp – 08-12 July 15.
Biathlon Canada’s Buff Postal Competitions

Items needed are:

  • Roller Skis, boots, poles, and safety gear (helmet, pads, reflective vest), if planning to participate in the LSSD Ski camp.
  • Owned or club loaned 0.22 Rifles and accessories. Club rifle quantities are limited. Precedence will be given to those who were registered in the 2014-2015 programs, and still qualify for its use, or maybe shared.
  • 0.22 LR Standard velocity, 40 grain ammunition
  • Ear plugs (inserts)
  • Safety glasses
  • Heart Rate Monitor (if participating in the Conconi run)
  • Must have completed or be planning to undertake the firearm safety course. The firearm safety course is mandated by Biathlon Canada for anyone who is 12 years of age or older, and must be undertaken within the first year of participating in a 0.22 program.
  • Biathlon Canada/Ontario Membership

Biathlon Canada/Ontario Membership

In order to undertake any of the above programs, participants are required to be members of Biathlon Canada/Ontario. The registration is done through the Zone4 Portal at: https://zone4.ca/reg.asp?id=9084&lan=1&cartlevel=1. The cost is not associated with our programs fees, and is the sole responsibility of the participant(s).

The age category is determined by the participants age as of 31 Dec 2015.

For parents wishing to remain on the range to observe or assist in the training when asked upon, must also register as a supporter.

Remember to print and record the receipt number received from this registration as it serves as your Biathlon Canada/Ontario membership number for the 2015-2016 Season, and will be asked and verified during our own registration processes.
