U13 – Biathlon Competitive Program

U13 Biathlon Competitive Programs (1 Session per week)

Athlete to register with Biathlon Canada/Biathlon Ontario according to their age category

General Information

The U13 Biathlon Competitive Program continues to build on the skills learned in the Biathlon Bears program designed for young athletes between the ages of 12 and 14. The program continues to mesh the shooting skills of a marksman, and the techniques of a cross-country skate skier under the direction of a seasonal training plan developed from the LTAD guidelines.

Schedule

The U13 Biathlon Competitive programs runs from 06 Sep 24 to 29 Mar 25 and encompasses:

  • Ski sessions: Saturday Afternoons between 1:30pm – 3:00pm as per Biathlon Bears Schedule
  • Sunday Afternoons, 1:30pm – 3:00pm

Program Fee

Program Fees covers

  • Use of club 0.22 Rifle, depends on availability
  • Consumables
  • Coaching Fees in program

Competitions

Athletes will have the opportunity to compete in the following events

  • 2-3 Club designated 0.22 racing events
  • Bruno’s Cup on 29 Mar 2025

Membership Requirements

  • Athletes must be registered with Biathlon Canada and Biathlon Ontario as detailed on our registration page.
  • Membership to local ski club and L2T program is required.

Equipment Needed

  • Skate Skis, poles and boots
  • Eye and Ear Protection
  • Recommend to purchase of own 0.22 Biathlon rifle and accessories.
  • Ammunition.  4500 rounds is recommended
  • Proper winter attire for being active outdoor
  • Daypack with extra mitts, gloves, toques, socks, etc..
  • Water bottle/Thermos.
  • Arm Cuff. Arm Cuff can be purchased from Nordic Marksman Inc website

Other Considerations

  • Required Firearm Safety Course certificate within first year of participation. Copy of course certificate to be submitted to club secretary.
  • Minor PAL permit is required to race in Biathlon Canada and Division sanctioned events.
  • Passport and Import permit required for international travel.
  • Possession and Acquisition license (PAL) is required to purchase ammunition and rifle
  • Contribute to Club fundraising activities
